Samsung Electronics Unveils New Galaxy S Series, Foldable Phone on February 11

With all the rumors of rest in mind, Samsung confirmed its upcoming Galaxy S-series smartphone’s launch date. The South Korean tech giant has confirmed that the Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on February 11 in San Francisco through its official Samsung Mobile Twitter handle.

In the tweet, there is a 15-second teaser clip that shows a square and a rectangular shape in places of the alphabet alp a ‘in the word Galaxy. These shapes can be seen pressing through a sheet and online reports suggest that they represent camera collisions on the Galaxy Fold 2, such as the Galaxy S11 (or Galaxy S20) and Moto Razor, respectively. In addition, the company hopes to unveil rival Apple Airpods Pro on the same day.


Several reports in the past have given information about the three expected smartphones in the Galaxy S-series and Galaxy Fold 2. Last week, it was claimed that Samsung could adopt a new monitor – the S20 – for the next Galaxy S-series handset. This means, the 2020 lineup is called the Galaxy S20e, Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 Plus.


According to online reports, the upcoming Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20 will feature a punch-hole display similar to the Galaxy Note 10-series. Furthermore, several rumors have indicated that the upcoming Galaxy S-series phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or Samsung’s Exynos 990. Recently, it was alleged that Samsung plans to include a 120Hz refresh rate display and 5000mAh battery on the Galaxy S11.


For the Galaxy Fold 2, the device is expected to offer a clamshell design with a hinge mechanism similar to the original Galaxy Fold. According to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung will use an “ultra-thin glass cover” in the Galaxy Fold 2 to avoid creases.


The move has been taken by Samsung to maintain its lead in the market for foldable phones and 5G phones, with rivals conspiring to capture the newborn but in growing areas


On Sunday, Samsung Electronics said it would introduce new devices on February 11 in San Francisco, with the electronics giant expected to unveil its new foldable phone and a new version of its flagship S model.


The move comes as the world’s top smartphone manufacturer is trying to hold on to the newborn with rivals, but in the growing segment, to maintain its lead in the foldable phone and 5G phone market.


“Samsung Electronics will unveil new, new devices that will shape the mobile experiences of the next decade,” the South Korean firm said in an invitation letter. It said the event would be live-streamed at 11 am Pacific time.


In a teaser image, Samsung hinted at two phones – one square-shaped and the other with a rectangular appearance.


Samsung Electronics unveiled its new foldable phone concept in October, which folds vertically like an old flip phone. After delays due to screen problems, his first foldable phone, which folds horizontally, was launched in September.


Traditionally, Samsung Electronics has unveiled new versions of its premium Galaxy S series phones in front of the Mobile World Congress which take place February.


A Samsung spokesperson declined to comment on which models will be unveiled at the upcoming event.
